Data Deletion

Chat Close is a shared inbox that lets a retail store answer its customers across WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, SMS and web chat. This page explains how to have your data deleted, whichever of those routes you reached us by.

1. If you messaged a store on Messenger or Instagram

You have three options, and any one of them is enough.

Remove the app on Facebook

Go to Facebook → Settings & Privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites, find Chat Close, and choose Remove. Tick the option to delete your data when prompted. Facebook notifies us automatically, we delete your conversation data, and you are given a confirmation code you can quote to us.

Reply STOP in the conversation

Sending STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, QUIT, OPT OUT) to the business stops all further messages to you immediately. This records an opt-out rather than a deletion — use one of the other two options if you want the conversation history removed as well.

Email us

Write to support@chatclose.app with the name of the business you messaged and the account you messaged from.

2. If you messaged a store on WhatsApp or SMS

Reply STOP to end messages, and email support@chatclose.app from, or quoting, the phone number in question to request deletion.

3. If you are a store owner using Chat Close

You can delete your account and all associated data yourself from the Settings page inside the app. This removes your contacts, conversations, messages and uploaded media.

4. What gets deleted, and when

  • Your contact record, and the conversations and messages attached to it
  • Any media you sent (images, PDFs, voice notes)
  • Any AI-generated analysis derived from those conversations

Requests are actioned within 30 days, and usually much sooner — deletions triggered from Facebook are processed automatically on receipt.

We may retain a minimal record that a deletion request was made, and any data we are required to keep by law (for example transaction records for tax purposes). This never includes the content of your messages.

Note that the store you messaged is the primary controller of your conversation data, and may hold its own records outside Chat Close — for example in its point-of-sale system. Deleting from Chat Close does not delete those.

5. Checking on a request

If you removed the app on Facebook you were given a confirmation code beginning cc_. Email that code to support@chatclose.app and we will confirm the status.
